Who’s Your Target Market?
If you’re like most photographers, you probably haven’t spent much time thinking about WHO your tarketg market is? If you really want to be successful, you need to define a very specific target and go after it with everything you’ve got. If you’ve never done this before, here are some basic steps to take in order to get started.
- Review/Interview your current customers. Find out about them, why they buy your stuff, what their interests are, what they do for work, what they do on weekends, etc.
- Create a demographic profile of your ideal customer:
- Age
- Sex
- Nationality
- Profession
- Hobbies
- Income
- Etc.
- Test your photos/message against the demographic you’ve chosen to target. Make sure what you’re doing resonates with them.
By selecting a specific target market, and then creating work that caters to that market, you’ll develop a much more loyal following and those people will be much easier to sell to.
If you feel like you’ve done good job defining your target market, be sure to share. Comment by clicking on the comment link to the left of the post and give us a url to your site.
